APF Activity Camps – Coronavirus measures
Updated 30th May 2022
In line with current government advice of 'life reverting to as normal as possible', our camps are also back to normal in terms of all activities being available, no additional measures on camp and no requirements for staff or children to test. We will however, still be vigilant for symptomatic staff and children to minimise the risk of Covid on camp. Please see below for further details:
Camps will largely be back to normal, however in line with current recommendations our staff will be carrying out extra cleaning and be vigilant for the signs of a respiratory infection in themselves or the children on camp.
In line with current guidance, if you child has mild symptoms of a respiratory infection such as a runny nose, sore throat or slight cough and are otherwise well they can attend camp. If you child is unwell and would not enjoy their time at camp and have a high temperature, they should stay at home and avoid contact with other people.
If you child is unwell and would not enjoy their time at camp or have symptoms of a respiratory infection including a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people.
Will I get my money back if my child is unwell?
If your child is too ill or injured to attend camp, we offer a percenage refund if cancelled within 48 hours notice (see t&c). You can also take the optional Protection Plan (PP). With the Protection Plan, we will refund you for any day(s) missed due to illness or injury, or allocate your child to new dates in the season if they’re available. Click here for more on UPP.
No, routine testing of children is no longer recommended so your child will be fine to attend if they are slightly unwell as detailed above. However, do have spare lateral flow tests for children and staff to use if it is necessary.
It is not recommended that children and young people are tested for COVID-19 unless directed to by a health professional. If your child has a positive COVID-19 test result they should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days after the day they took the test, if they can. After 3 days, if they feel well and do not have a high temperature they can return to camp.
If your child has symptoms of a respiratory infection, including COVID-19, and appears to be unwell or suffering from a high temperature we reserve the right to refuse them entry to camp as part of our duty of care to the other children and staff on camp. If your child becomes unwell whilst in our care, our staff will take them from their group, make them comfortable and you will be contacted to collect them as soon as possible.
If you child has been in close contact or lives with someone who has tested positive for CoVID-19 they can continue to attend as normal if they are well, although we ask you to remain vigilant for symptoms in your child.
No - It is not recommended that children and young people are tested for COVID-19 unless directed to by a health professional.
Other measure:
As part of our daily cleaning routines, staff members ensure that surfaces and touch points are regularly disinfected. Students will be expected to wash their hands more often, particularly after every activity, and hand sanitiser will be provided throughout the camp. APF will also liaise with our fantastic host partner schools to ensure additional enhanced daily cleaning of facilities including toilets and washrooms.
Students will be allocated into a year group bubble for the camp week. Out of the year group bubble we will form small daily bubbles. (Information on size of group bubbles can be found below.) Each year group bubble will be allocated staff members, who will remain with the same group throughout the camp where possible. *This will be subject to government easing of restrictions*
